Sushi taco recipe

Sushi tacos are a delicious and creative fusion of two popular dishes: sushi and tacos. They are made with crispy wonton shells filled with sushi rice, raw fish, avocado, and other sushi-inspired ingredients like seaweed, wasabi, and soy sauce. This sushi taco recipe is quick and easy to make, and it's a great way to get kids to eat sushi. The wonton shells are a fun and unique twist on traditional taco shells, and they help to keep the fillings from getting soggy.

Ingredients:

  • 12 wonton wrappers

  • 1 cup sushi rice, cooked according to package directions

  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage

  • 1/2 cup chopped cucumber

  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion

  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

  • 1 avocado, sliced

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce

  • Oil for frying

  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Dip each wonton wrapper in the hot oil for about 1 second, just until it becomes soft and pliable.

  3. Remove the wonton wrappers from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

  4. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, soy sauce, and sriracha sauce.

  5. To assemble the tacos, place a wonton wrapper in the palm of your hand and top with a scoop of sushi rice.

  6. Layer on the cabbage, cucumber, red onion, cilantro, avocado, and mayonnaise mixture.

  7. Fold the wonton wrapper in half and enjoy!

To garnish, sprinkle the tacos with sesame seeds.

Tips:

  • If you don't have a large skillet or saucepan, you can fry the wonton wrappers in a single layer in a deep fryer.

  • Be careful not to overcook the wonton wrappers, or they will become crispy and hard.

  • You can use any type of filling you like in your sushi tacos. Some other popular options include raw fish, cooked shrimp, crab, or tofu.

  • Get creative with your toppings! Some other fun ideas include wasabi, pickled ginger, furikake, or eel sauce.

Enjoy!

Here are some additional tips for making sushi tacos:

  • Use high-quality ingredients to ensure the best flavor and texture.

  • Make sure the sushi rice is cooked properly and cooled before assembling the tacos.
